A Baby and a Baby-to-be

This past weekend, we drove to Fort Wayne to meet Evan Paul Kern, who was born last weekend to my (Becca's) friend Misty. I've known Misty since elementary school and she's one of my closest girl friends and ironicially, we got pregnant at the same time and actually shared a due date, both of us expecting little boys. Well, Evan definately didn't want to wait until January to come into the world. He arrived when Misty was a little over 26 wks. pregnant. He came into the world weighing 2lbs. 1oz. He obviuosly has a few months ahead of him hanging out in the NICU so that he can grow and get big and strong, but otherwise, he seems to be doing quite well right now. YEAH!
I wasn't really sure what to expect and I had no idea how to imagine what a 2lb. baby would look like...but it was most definately an awe-inspiring thing. To see a human life at such an early stage and to know that God knit him together and ordained these days for him......just amazing. This was a living, breathing, pooping, and crying human being....everything is just super tiny! Misty actually got to hold him for the first time while I was there which was very special to be able to witness.

And to shift to my pregnancy news, my mom has been begging and bugging me for a picture of myself since she hasn't gotten to see me at all. From the front, I'm not really looking all that pregnant......

But from the side.....it's a bit more obvious. I've put on somewhere between 15-20lbs. by now. I feel pretty good most of the time and I'm not too uncomfortable yet. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the extra attention that comes with expecting. :) And I've learned to just deal with the people coming up and wanting to touch my stomach....I figure it just comes with the territory and I can either let it bother me or I can just get over it!
