Christmas, Nursery, and Ministry

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
Well, so far we've had 4 family gatherings that we've attended. Much food and fun was had.
I will have to admit that on Christmas Day we found ourselves hanging out at home. We had a gathering to attend (my (Becca's) Jackson side), but decided we'd wipe ourselves out if we made the trip to Indiana and back in a day (I have to work on Wednesday). We still have 1 more family Christmas with my parents, brothers, and their families, coming up. Hard to believe that the time is coming and going so quickly!

We're 1 month away from our due date!!! Yikes!!! The nursery had made significant strides in the past few weeks and is pretty much done (minus the actual baby). Pics will be posted soon!

And for our final news.....many of our family and friends know at this point, but it's official now and thus making it onto our blog......Adam has been offered and accepted a full-time youth pastor position at Highland Hills Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, MI. He officially announced his resignation at Rockford Baptist this past Sunday and will put in about another month there. He will then have a week or so off (around the time the baby comes) and officially start at Highland Hills on Feb.1. For the time being, we're staying put in our house as it is about a 20-25 minute drive depending on traffic. But we will be working on finishing up a few items on our house and preparing to put it on the market (sniff, sniff.....yes, we will be leaving the house that we (ok, Adam) has slaved over for the past several years). As many of you know, Adam has been working part-time at Rockford for the last 3 years, and also having to balance a 2nd job (carpentry) to help with the income. This is such a huge blessing to be able to go into full-time ministry and it's something that we've felt called to for quite some time. It's still somewhat unbelievable at the timing of it all. This job allows Adam to have benefits, so that I don't feel the need to continue working full-time. And just overall, we feel such a peace about how God has opened doors for us to step into this new minsitry. We feel extremely embraced at this point by our new church, yet also feel a sense of sadness as we prepare to leave Rockford. We have friends there and lots of youth and adults that we care for. Plus, it's a little scary going through two big changes at the same time (the baby and new ministry), but we know God designed it like this for a reason for us.

Well, that's enough of an update for now. Oh, and by the way, we didn't send out Christmas cards this year. It was unbelieveably freeing to make that decision! We figured we'd be sending out birth announcements a month or so later and that people could wait until then to hear from us. :)
