So, we did the typical make-your-kids-take-a-picture-while-holding-a-1st-Day-of-School-sign.
The boys were pretty geeked about starting preschool this week.
Tate received a scholarship through the county to attend 3-year old preschool two mornings a week. It's at a Christian preschool just a couple of miles from our house. He has the same teachers that Landon had last year. After the first day, Ms.Allison said that Tate is much less inhibited and quiet compared to Landon. I replied with a "yep."
Landon qualified for a school readiness program for our public school district. He goes 4 mornings a week. So far, he loves it, although he has seriously napped hard this week. And I've had to get used to him being gone 4 mornings a week. It feels like so much, but I know it's good preparation for next year when he goes all day, every day.
We qualified for both of these programs based on our income. (I'm pretty open about stuff like this). I don't "feel" like we need that much monetary assistance or that we are "poor," we manage well the money that we are given, but we do still qualify for these programs that are offered. We aren't struggling to feed, clothe, shelter, and even have room for "fun" stuff. We feel extremely blessed. We do wear mostly second-hand or clearance rack clothes, don't have cable TV, drive older vehicles, coupon, garage sale, say "no" to some purchases and outings, but we have way more than what we need. Although, we probably would have difficulty finding room in our budget to afford preschool rates. So, I'm incredibly GRATEFUL for these opportunities for our kids. So grateful. They both seem to do very well in an educational setting and they love the social interaction of it. Super thankful to have these opportunities! Yeah for learning!
